Free Anti-Virus Rescue CD

This is an ISO image of a rescue CD with up-to-date virus and malware definitions, which automatically burns itself to CDR or DVDR. The disc can be created on one machine and run on another that is being prevented by malware from accessing the internet.

The download is a zip file, so if you are using an operating system older than Windows XP, you may need a zip/unzip utility to extract it. If using XP, just right-click on the downloaded file and choose Extract all. If using Vista, just double-click on the file and hit the "Extract all Files" button.
Once extracted, just put a burnable disc in your CD/DVD burner and open the burnCD
file . Your free anti-virus rescue CD will be automatically created. The scanner will autorun when your newly created disc is placed in a CD drive. If autorun has been disabled on your machine, it will be necessary to browse to your CD drive and open the mcafee file. Windows Vista by default shows an AutoPlay dialog to ask whether you want to run the AutoRun software.

Nothing is installed to your machine. The only thing written to the drive is the log file C:\mcaf-rpt which will report in plain text what it has found and removed.

This utility employs the free Mcafee commandline scanner, which has been preset to very aggessive settings and heuristics.

The file is currently over 100MB and growing daily, as the number of definitions accumulate.
